NORWELL VISITING NURSE & SOUTH SHORE YMCA ANNOUNCE
FIRST ANNUAL SENIOR HEALTH FAIR


Join Norwell VNA and the South Shore YMCA for the first ever Senior Health Fair!


NORWELL, MA (August 23, 2007) – The Norwell Visiting Nurse Association’s (VNA) in partnership with the South Shore YMCA are pleased to announce they will be hosting their first annual Senior Health Fair on Thursday, September 13, 2007 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the South Shore YMCA located at 75 Mill Street in Hanover. The event will be offered at no charge and is co-sponsored by Sovereign Bank in Norwell.


South Shore residents are invited to take part in activities catered toward the senior community including exhibits, demonstrations and health screenings, focused on senior heath and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The Norwell VNA will be providing bone density and blood pressure screenings, while the Hanover VNA will provide blood glucose screenings. Attendees will also have the opportunity to see demonstrations of programs offered by South Shore YMCA including water aerobics and weight training for seniors. Chair massages will also be available to attendees.


“As people age the number of health concerns and the amount of assistance they may need increases,” said Michelle Sweeney, Norwell VNA Community Health and Education Liaison. “The Senior Health Fair is a great opportunity for seniors to receive screenings and healthcare information in a fun, care-free environment.”


Other participants that will be on hand at the fair to answer questions include the Hanover, Norwell and Scituate Councils on Aging, Old Colony Elder Services, South Shore Elder Services, Middleboro Council on Aging/SHINE office, Lane Center for Natural Healing, Moore Family Chiropractic, Arthritis Foundation, Old Colony Hospice, the Queen Anne Nursing, Sunrise Assisted Living in Cohasset and Chiropractic and Wellness Center of Hanover. The MBTA will also be on hand to discuss their senior pass program.
