THE FRIENDS OF THE NORWELL VISITING NURSE ASSOCIATION
AND THE NORWELL MEN’S CLUB SPONSOR
"HOLIDAY LIGHTS ON THE COMMON"
Enjoy a “Visit from Santa” and watch the lighting of the Norwell Common
Christmas tree
November 6, 2007 (NORWELL, MA) - The Friends of the Norwell Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) are teaming up with the Norwell Men’s Club to transform the Cushing Center and nearby Norwell Common into a winter wonderland at Holiday Lights on the Common. The much-loved annual event will take place on Saturday, December 1, 2007.
Holiday Lights on the Common will kick off at 1:30 p.m., with festive holiday music and refreshments at the Cushing Center, located at 673 Main St. Music will be provided by the Christmas Trombones of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and St. Helen’s Choir. Continuing a time-honored tradition, Santa will make his entrance into town on the Norwell Fire Truck Association’s antique fire truck accompanied
by 10 lucky children. Winners will be randomly selected from the names submitted by November 24th to the Friends of the Norwell VNA. Santa will be at the Cushing Center from 1:30 to 3:45 p.m. visiting with the children and taking pictures. The celebration will move across the street to the Norwell Common at 3:45 p.m., where the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place.
As part of the annual tradition, individuals may once again purchase wooden ornaments for $10 each. The ornaments will be inscribed with the names of loved ones and placed upon the Christmas tree on Norwell Common as a heartwarming holiday tribute. Proceeds will benefit the Norwell VNA and the Norwell Men’s Club jointly in their ongoing tradition of Holiday Outreach. Norwell residents will
receive an order form for these ornaments prior to the event. To place an order for a wooden ornament, please send the names of the people you wish to remember, along with a check payable to The Friends of the Norwell VNA, to P.O. Box 598, Norwell, MA 02061.
Jean Snow, Assistant Treasurer of the Norwell VNA and longtime member of the Friends of the Norwell VNA, has played an integral role in the planning and developing Holiday Lights on the Common. She has been heavily involved in the event since it began 10 years ago. Much of the event’s success is in part to Snow and we would like to thank her for outstanding effort and commitment to this wonderful
event.
All South Shore residents are invited to take part in Holiday Lights on the Common. For more information, please call the Norwell VNA at 781-659-2342.
