Our non-profit, 12-bed hospice residence, which opened in late October, 2013, is open to anyone qualified to receive hospice services who cannot remain within their own home for end-of-life care. This may include patients already living on the South Shore, or people living elsewhere but who want to move closer to family or loved ones living on the South Shore. For our FAQ sheet on the hospice residence, please click here.
Our hospice team provides the same level of care to patients living in the hospice residence that we provide to patients living in their own homes. The focus of care is on providing physical, emotional, social and spiritual support for patients and their families. Our hospice services and support are tailored to meet the specific needs of each of our patients and their families. Professional medical care emphasizes pain management and symptom relief. Emotional and spiritual support offers patients and families comfort and strength.
Patients have their own private room with bathroom, and can share common areas where family can gather and visit, such as the library, tea room, outside porch, and spectacular surrounding grounds. Two family suites are also available for out of town family members and a family kitchen, dining area and entertainment room is specifically designated for family and friends of patients.
