Who Is NVNA and Hospice?

NVNA and Hospice delivers high quality patient care in the comforting environment of home. We are neighbors helping neighbors by promoting wellness and public health services in our community.

Home and Hospice Care on the South Shore

For over 100 years, NVNA and Hospice has been a cornerstone of our community. Founded in 1920 in Norwell, our organization was built on a foundation of neighbors helping neighbors. We continually seek to elevate the standard of care for patients with complex health issues and individuals who are terminally ill.

Our home and hospice care serves 5,000 families each year in 27 South Shore communities. We are the premier independent non-profit visiting nurse organization in the region, and our patients and their families always come first. We offer compassionate care wherever you call home, whether you live in a private home, nursing or assisted living facility, or our Pat Roche Hospice Home in Hingham.

History of NVNA and Hospice

NVNA first opened its doors in 1920—car doors, that is. The mission of one single nurse traveling around the town of Norwell to visit homebound patients in the wake of a pandemic has traversed an entire century.

It is now a vibrant organization bringing compassionate care to the region. Our future involves the highest level of care in all our disciplines: nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, home health aides, social work, and spiritual care.
