Nirav J Patel, MD, MA
Dr. Nirav Patel is an Attending Surgeon at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and in process for Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at Harvard Medical School. He has completed his Neurosurgical Residency at the University of Wisconsin, followed by and Open Cerebrovascular Surgery Fellowship at Macquarie University in Australia, as well and an Endovascular Neurosurgery Fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
Dr. Patel has repeatedly demonstrated his commitment to teaching and innovation. He has created a 3D skills lab for microsurgical techniques at Boston Medical Center, directs an animal lab for training in micro-anastomosis at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and is in the planning phase of developing a hybrid neurovascular suite which would allow endovascular and craniotomy access simultaneously. He is the site Co-Investigator for several important, multi-institutional prospective trials in the field of endovascular and open vascular neurosurgery (such as WEB-IT, APOLLO, DEFUSE 3, and ENRICH). In his career Dr. Patel has held the role of Investigator in 12 funded research projects and is actively pursuing further funding in projects surrounding cerebral perfusion.
