About Our Hospice Residence

Our beautiful 12-bed hospice home in Hingham provides a dignified and peaceful environment for residents facing a life-limiting illness.  We are the first non-profit, independent hospice home of our kind on the South Shore.

Residents have their own private room with bathroom and share common areas where family can gather and visit, such as a music room, tea room, family room with full kitchen, outside terrace, and spectacular surrounding grounds.

Two family suites are also available for out-of-town family members and the lower-level family kitchen, dining area and entertainment room is specifically designated for family and friends of patients to gather.

Around the Pat Roche Hospice Home

In addition to all the services one would receive from hospice when living in one’s own home, hospice residence patients receive:

Services Provided

  • Round-the-clock care as needed

  • Assistance with personal care from home health aides

  • Breakfast, lunch, and dinner

  • Housekeeping and laundry service

  • Visits from the hospice team, including physician, registered nurse, social worker, chaplain, bereavement counselor, and volunteers as needed and desired

How Is Residential Care Paid?

Room and board fees are paid by the patient and/or family.  Medicare and Medicaid do not cover residence room and board. However, some private insurers and long-term care providers may. Medical insurers such as Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care plans do cover the cost of the hospice care, medications and medical equipment provided at the hospice residence, just as it would be covered in one’s own home.

We operate and maintain the Pat Roche Hospice House as part of our charitable mission. We rely on charitable generosity and are so grateful to the donors who make this community resource possible.
